As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided lighting design services for the following three (3) Gowanus Expressway projects:

    1. Lighting Design for Gowanus Expressway from 21st Street to 2nd Avenue Including the Prospect Expressway Interchange and Westbound Approach to the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, PIN X731.19, Brooklyn, NY
    2. Lighting Design for Gowanus Expressway Repair and Interim Deck Replacement Project, from 4th Avenue to 52nd Street including the Shore Parkway Interchange Widening PIN X731.81, Brooklyn, NY
    3. Lighting Design for Gowanus Expressway Repair and Interim Deck Replacement Project, including the Viaduct Emergency Repair and Deck Replacement Near the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, PIN X731.40, Brooklyn, NY

SIE was responsible for preparation of roadway illumination drawings for the new roadway lighting system. Tasks included lighting design for the upper roadway, new viaduct HOV lane, street level under deck lighting, a parking lot, and street level intersections within the project limits. SIE designed fixture layouts according to New York City DOT Lighting Design Standards. SIE performed a field investigation to locate existing power sources, junction boxes, and other utilities. Specific tasks included load analysis, voltage drop calculations, conduit fill calculations, and lighting circuit design. SIE was fully responsible for design and recommendations. Visual software was utilized for determination of luminaire locations. SIE also prepared temporary lighting design where needed and submitted temporary lighting plans to NYCDOT-DSL for approval.
