As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) performed lighting design services for the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge (VNB) between the boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn. SIE performed the evaluation of the existing lighting system and a complete lighting design for the reconstructed ramps, approaches and the bridge.
SIE was responsible for the preparation of the preliminary and final lighting design for the project. Tasks included the preparation of the layout lighting plans, lighting calculations for the preliminary and final lighting design and preparation of lighting/electrical drawing for the project. The design performed was as per standards and criteria for Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA). Specific tasks included a field investigation to locate existing power sources, junction boxes and other electrical equipment. The tasks also included lighting calculations for standard illumination, load analysis, voltage drop calculations, conduit fill calculations, and lighting circuit design. SIE was fully responsible for design and recommendations. VISUAL software was utilized for lighting analysis.
