Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced the completion of Phase One of the $1.7 billion Hunts Point Access Improvement Project. This project is an unprecedented New York State investment in improving infrastructure, connectivity, and quality of life in the South Bronx.
SIE was proud to serve as the sole subconsultant on the Construction Quality Assurance team for this phase of the project. Work included new ramps to and from Edgewater Road to provide access to the Hunts Point peninsula from Bruckner Expressway and from Sheridan Boulevard. The scope also included a pedestrian bridge replacement over Amtrak and CSX train tracks, replacement of three bridges, and ramp relocation for the eastbound entrance ramp, as well as other pedestrian improvements and replacement of deteriorated elements on the Bruckner Expressway Viaduct and ramps.
