As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction management services to the Nassau County Department of Public Works for the new $20 million Nassau County Police Department, Eighth Precinct Station House in Bethpage, New York. The new three-story station house is located within the bounds of the eastern most existing parking area and includes an increased number of workstations, file rooms and holding cells. The new station house was designed to withstand severe storm event conditions. A new emergency generator was installed to ensure operation of the new station house during and following storm events. The project increased resiliency by enhancing emergency response and decreasing recovery time.
The project involved CM services, including resident engineering, office engineering, inspection, CPM scheduling, BIM-related services, and cost estimating. SIE provided MEP inspection for the project, including electrical and mechanical inspection services for conformance of the work with the plans and specifications, and reporting deviations to the Resident Engineer. Tasks included the preparation and maintenance of daily inspection reports that indicated the contractor’s work activities and progress of the contract. SIE also tracked change order work, crew size and composition, weather, equipment utilization, and all other information relative to the execution of the work. SIE inspection staff was responsible for maintaining payment records, including verification of submittals and partial payment requests, maintaining as-built drawings of the work, and indicating deviations from the contract or shop drawings.
