As the prime consultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided resident engineering inspection services for the installation of sanitary and storm sewers in Water Edge Drive and the surrounding streets. SIE provided all services required for the inspection, supervision, management, coordination, and administration of the project. SIE ensured that the work was properly executed and completed in a timely fashion, and that it conformed to the requirements of the construction documents and good construction practice. SIE provided pre-construction, construction, and post-construction services.
The project involved the rehabilitation of sewer mains, reconstruction of roadway, curbs, sidewalks, street lighting, traffic signal work, and private utilities work. SIE was responsible for reviewing the contract plans and specifications for the project, including DDC standard sewer specifications, water main and highway specifications, and DEP and DOT standard drawings as needed to familiarize staff with the standards to be utilized. Work involved inspection of the installation of sanitary and storm sewers, water main, and roadway restoration work. This later included the placement of new curb, sidewalk, concrete base, and asphalt in accordance with the plans and specifications. Various accounting, internal controls and auditing procedure applications were followed in order to maintain cost controls. The project followed the NYC Comptroller’s Directives as per project needs. and involved challenging issues related to construction on heavily travelled streets.
