As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided lighting design services for the rehabilitation of the Staten Island Ferry Terminal Ramp structures in St. George. Tasks included preparation of contract documents for the new roadway bridge/ramp, above deck, under deck, pedestrian bridge bus canopy, intersections, and parking lot lighting to accompany the proposed rehabilitation and reconstruction of the structures. Proposed lighting design was in compliance with the standards outlined by the New York City Department of Transportation – Division of Street Lighting (NYCDOT–DSL). SIE conducted field investigations to locate power sources, power supply and wattage, existing light poles and fixtures, and existing controllers and determined the best possible method for running conduit based upon safety, economic, and aesthetic factors.
SIE performed preliminary and final lighting design for this project. Tasks included layout fixture, lighting analysis, voltage drop calculations, and preparation of lighting plans and detailed drawings. The lighting plans were submitted to NYCDOT-DSL for approval, along with shop drawings.
