Staten Island Railway (SIR) Retaining Wall Inspection

As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided inspection, reporting, and asset management services for Staten Island Railway (SIR), which provides passenger services from Saint George Ferry Terminal to Tottenville Station in the Borough of Staten Island.

SIE was responsible for the inspection, reporting, and asset management entry into MTA’s Hexagon database for the following areas:

  • 28 miles of retaining wall adjacent to the tracks, excluding stations
  • Retaining walls at Clifton shop
  • Rail yards at Clifton, St. George, and Tottenville
  • Nine (9) traction power stations
  • RCC Towers A and B at St. George
  • Five (5) rail sidings at 735 Bay Street, next to Old Town substation, 731 Bay Street, Prince’s Bay Train Station, and Great Kills

This inspection was a baseline inspection and asset inventory. In addition to the above tasks and locations, SIE coordinated with SIR on weekly calls for scheduling General Orders (GO’s) and flagmen.
