SI Engineering recently received two ACEC New York 2025 Engineering Excellence Silver Awards. We are proud and grateful to be recognized for our passion and commitment toward making New York a safer, healthier, and more prosperous place for its residents.
SIE received a Silver Award in Category G: Water Resources for providing outstanding and innovative Resident Engineering Inspection Services for Distribution Water Main Work in Jay Avenue. This NYCDDC project required innovative installation methods to avoid conflicts with nearby underground subway structures and resulted in five Queens communities with less water main breaks and higher quality, cleaner water for decades to come. SIE combined our familiarity with the project scope, ability to adapt to complicating factors, and excellent recordkeeping practices to complete the project with no cost overruns.
SIE received our second award of the year in Category H: Transportation for providing Construction Inspection Services for Bridge Repair of NY 27 Westbound Over Barnes Road. This NYSDOT project was one of the first to utilize the Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement Program, ensuring the safety of both the SIE Team and the traveling public while work was ongoing. SIE overcame multiple complications, including unforeseen structural decay during the demolition phase, winter weather, and funding and timing issues, to complete the project on-budget. The result is a bridge that the traveling public can rely upon for many years to come.
