This project aimed to reconstruct roadways being impacted by sewer construction, address underbuilt and nonstandard conditions where they exist, and restore streets throughout the project area with curb-to-curb resurfacing. As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided street lighting system design services.
On 166th Street from 107th Avenue to 108th Avenue, the work involved property line to property line street reconstruction including roadway width standardization and construction of unbuilt curbs and sidewalks. On 108th Avenue from 165th Street to 166th Street, the work involved full-width roadway reconstruction with curb and sidewalk reconstruction as needed, plus pedestrian ramp upgrades. On Hendrickson Place from 166th Street to Merrick Boulevard, the work involved curb-to-curb roadway resurfacing and pedestrian ramp upgrades at Merrick Boulevard. The scope also included installation of a temporary relief sewer along 180th Avenue to alleviate chronic flooding along 166th Street. The exact degree of work required at these locations varied based on the anticipated impacts of the sewer reconstruction, as well as existing street conditions.
SIE was responsible for providing street lighting system design. Since the project scope included full reconstruction of much of the project limits, lighting conditions were improved to meet Vision Zero safety standards. The street lighting plans package included street lighting electrical notes, temporary lighting notes, list of all applicable DOT Street Lighting standard drawings and specifications, existing street lighting plans (with existing-to-remain and existing-to-be-removed clearly stated), proposed street lighting plans, and any related installation details.
