Design of Temporary Lighting Systems

Lighting Systems

The goal of this project was to provide temporary roadway illumination while the existing lighting system was being upgraded in six (6) locations. As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) performed lighting analyses for the establishment of the location of temporary lighting standards and prepared contract documents for the temporary lighting systems. The projects included:

  • Bradhurst Avenue between Lisa Lane and Grassland Road, Mount Pleasant and Valhalla, NY
  • Bradhurst Avenue between Evergreen Lane and Paulding Drive, Hawthorne, NY
  • Saw Mill River Road between North Payne Street and Lamont Street, Greenburgh, NY
  • Secor Road and West Hartsdale Avenue, Elmford, NY
  • West Hartsdale Avenue, Maplewood Road and Ridge Road, Elmford, NY
  • Various Multi-Lane Highways in Westchester County, NY

Photometric analyses were performed using Visual lighting software. The horizontal illumination levels set forth in Chapter 12 of the NYS Department of Transportation Roadway Design Manual were the basis for the illumination criteria.
