
As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction inspection services during peak construction periods, focusing on the electrical scope of work for the replacement of Traffic Lane Control Signals (TLCS) and the addition / replacement of CCTV cameras at the Marine Parkway Bridge. Field inspection services included the installation, testing, and commissioning of TLCS equipment and associated hardware, CCTV cameras and related electrical infrastructure, lighting and camera poles, associated conduit and cabling, and power distribution and integration with MTA-TBTA systems. SIE’s responsibilities included verifying electrical work for compliance with contract documents, applicable codes, and MTA C&D and MTA-TBTA requirements and monitoring contractor compliance with safety protocols, including electrical safety and lock-out / tag-out procedures. Additional field tasks included participating in daily site inspections, documenting work progress, and reporting non-conforming work and safety concerns.
SIE maintained detailed inspection logs and daily reports using the Unifier document control system and supported the preparation of monthly and final progress reports. Additional services included assisting in the review and approval of contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material certifications related to the electrical scope; coordinating with the Resident Engineer, Project Manager, and other team members; attending project meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings; and communicating findings, issues, and recommendations to the project team and MTA representatives. Project deliverables included daily and monthly electrical inspection reports, non-conformance reports and corrective action documentation, inspection checklists and test results for TLCS, CCTV, and lighting systems, and input for project closeout documentation.
