Biennial Inspection of Newark Liberty International Airport Bridges

Newark Liberty International Airport Bridges

As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) performed biennial inspection of Newark Liberty International Airport bridges and prepared the biennial inspection reports, as well as a condition survey report. This project involved a 100% visual inspection of all bridge structural and non-structural elements, including but not limited to signs, lighting structures, cut and cover tunnels designated as bridges, and other structures. Some inspections included accessing ceilings/soffits and architectural finishes where buildings extended beneath the terminal bridges. The inspection also included the top and underside of the bridge deck; the underside of the concrete deck was sounded with a hammer at areas of suspected deterioration. SIE developed recommendations for correcting all deficiencies, verifying the status of all repair recommendations from the previous report, and documenting all new Immediate, Priority, and Safety Repair recommendations. Biennial Inspection and Condition Survey Reports were prepared in accordance with the latest NJDOT / FHWA / NBIS requirements.
