As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction administration and inspection services for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the approach viaducts at the Throgs Neck Bridge.
This contract required the rehabilitation of the Bronx approaches. Work included replacement and/or repair of the existing deteriorated floor beams, subfloor beams, girders, and stringers; repair of the existing deteriorated areas of the parapets, sidewalks, and all associated supports; cleaning of the existing joints; and replacement of local neoprene water deflectors with full-length neoprene deflectors. Work also included the repair of hollow and spalled concrete at the concrete piers and replacement all existing bearings with seismic isolation-type bearings, electrical feeders and other miscellaneous electrical repairs throughout the approaches, and substation D transformer, along with installation a direct low-pressure fire suppression system.
