As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction inspection services for this project. Work consisted of milling and replacing the existing ACC pavement, the construction and reconstruction of pedestrian facilities including sidewalks and curb ramps, the addition and upgrading of pavement markings, and the upgrading of traffic signals and devices. Work also involved concrete testing. At the onset of the contract, a small betterment was performed for the underground facility for the Village of Sloatsburg.
The project involved the restoration of pavement on 2.7 miles of Route 17 through the Village of Sloatsburg. The existing roadway width was maintained, but a two-way left turn lane was added by restriping the existing curb ramps and sidewalks upgraded to meet the updated ADA standards. An existing traffic signal was replaced by a pedestrian hybrid beacon added to the midblock crosswalk, along with raised medians. The project involved 2.7 miles of several roadwork stages, including new sanitary sewer installation as per Rockland County Sewer District [RCSD] specifications, new gas main installation as per Orange and Rockland County Gas Betterment, utility pole relocations / replacement, after which sidewalk and curb replacements for the project limits on the southbound and northbound side of Route 17 at specified locations. Work also involved retaining wall reconstruction, guardrail replacement, drainage replacement (5 RCP replacements at different locations), and improvement on the subsurface level. Project objectives also included joint repairs and pavement repairs along with the cleaning of existing drainage structures. Work also involved traffic signal work at the Municipal Plaza area, loop replacements, leveling, realignment of Route 17, milling and paving with renewed and repainted pavement markings, and toward the end of the project, landscaping of the roadway.
