
As the Prime Consultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction inspection services for preventative maintenance bridge repairs at various locations along NY 27 in Suffolk County. This contract involved the repair of various bridges, preserving and prolonging the life of the structures while maintaining their reliability and integrity and ensuring the continued safety of travelers in the Long Island region. The bridges included in this contract were:
- NY 27 Westbound over Squiretown Road
- NY 27 Eastbound over Squiretown Road
- NY 27 over Canal Road East
- NY 17 over County Route 39 (North Road)
All bridges were located in or around the Town of Southampton in Suffolk County. The scope of work involved the elimination of joints at all bridges, excluding County Route 39, by constructing link slabs at two (2) piers, replacing one pier joint with armorless joint and jointless details at the abutments. The project also included various structural repairs, such as deck repairs and substructure concrete repairs on deteriorated areas at pier caps, columns, pedestals, and abutments. In addition, the Canal Road East bridge’s navigational lights were replaced, and the existing railing system was upgraded. Work on the County Route 39 bridge included replacing one column with severe deterioration in its entirety, as well as concrete repairs on other deteriorated areas at pier columns and abutments.
