As the prime consultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction management and inspection services for this project at the New Jersey-Port Elizabeth Marine Terminal. The scope of work involved inspection and construction management of primarily civil and marine construction. The scope also included paving, structural, roofing, environmental, and building work.
SIE staff were responsible for maintaining communication with the Resident Engineer, contract staff, and facility staff; reading and interpreting plans and specifications; and preparing written contract administration documentation, including daily narrative work reports, special inspection reports, daily time and material records, photographs, and documentation of unit price work. SIE identified potential extra work issues and keept the Resident Engineer advised, prepared estimates of extra work and related sketches and documentation, and reviewed plans for constructability and prepared comments. SIE staff also reviewed contractor payment requests and provided comments to the Resident Engineer.
