As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction inspection services for improvements to Taxiway Alpha at Republic Airport. The purpose of this project was to correct identified pavement deficiencies to extend the useful life of the taxiway and maintain it in a structurally sound condition.
Taxiway Alpha was constructed in 1972 and showed signs of deterioration due to age, weathering, and service use. Deterioration of the pavement included longitudinal and transverse cracking, reflective cracking, alligator / fatigue cracking, raveling, weathering, and asphalt stripping. It was recommended that most airport taxiways, including Taxiway Alpha, be rehabilitated as soon as possible. In addition, the underground direct burial runway lighting cable, existing incandescent lighting for Taxiway Alpha, and guidance signs were obsolete and needed to be replaced.
SIE provided construction inspection services for pavement improvements, new guidance signs, lighting, and pavement markings. Our staff inspected work in progress and created daily work reports using SiteManager.
