As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction management services to the Nassau County Department of Public Works for the construction of a Sidestream Centrate Treatment Facility at the Bay Park Sewage Treatment Plant. The purpose of the sidestream treatment process was to reduce the recycle steam nitrogen loading by 75%.
The project involved the installation of several process tanks, associated equipment, and piping utilizing a deammonification system to remove nitrogen from the centrate coming from the sludge dewatering facility. Work also involved electrical, instrumentation and controls, and HVAC.
