Consultant Construction Management and Inspection Services for South Street and Fulton Avenue Bridge Replacement

This project consisted of a combination of design-build (contractor designed) and design-bid-build (100% designed). The design-build portion of the work consisted of design, demolition, and construction for the replacement of the superstructure and rehabilitation of the substructure of the Fulton Avenue and South Street Bridges for the Metro-North Railroad (MNR). The scope of the DBB portion of the work included relocation of the MNR sidepower at both bridges, removal and installation of new MNR electrical equipment, installation of a new Mount Vernon Cut access staircase to track level near 14th Avenue, and installation of new track level lighting along the Mount Vernon Cut.

As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided construction supervision and inspection services for the superstructure demolition and replacement of the bridges. SIE staff were responsible for monitoring the contractor’s daily activities for compliance with contract documents and relevant safety protocols, inspecting on-site materials, and reporting on project progress.
