As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided field inspection services for the structural defects identified in the Project Requirements and Design Criteria (PRDC), along with additional elements identified by MTA for Tracks A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, D3 and D4 on the 8th Avenue line. SIE coordinated the inspections with the Design-Build contractor and MOW to ensure access, including extensive GO work.
Structural elements were assessed in the field for any changes and clarification from the noted deficiencies; assessments included field measurements, sketches/notes, and photographs. Steel and concrete elements were evaluated in-depth to identify the level of repair required. Additional elements included in the inspection were leaks, handrails, drainpipes, conduits, dampers, grating, signs, doors and ladders. MOW condition and priority ratings were assessed and updated based on field findings.
SIE prepared inspection reports for each track inspected, including detailed photos, priority ratings, and descriptions. Each report also included a summary of findings and recommendations. Inspection reports were used by the designer to advance the design of the repairs for the design-builder.
