This project involved traffic engineering technical design services for capital and operating design projects at the John F. Kennedy Airport. Work involved developing contract drawings, specifications, and estimates for JFK projects as well as developing design drawings for traffic signals and permanent traffic features, including signing, pavement markings, guide rails, and other roadside barriers. The project also involved designing adequate protection for non-breakaway signs, such as guide rail, concrete barrier, etc., and designing the complete sign support systems, utilizing the break-away sign supports. Work also involved the review of all traffic-related shop drawing submittals for each project, including equipment details, sign layouts, and support systems.

As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) was responsible for developing Maintenance of Protection of Traffic design plans in accordance with current standards and regulations utilizing the Port Authority Maintenance of Traffic (PA MOT) guidelines. SIE also supervised the implementation of these design plans at the facility and made modifications to account for field conditions as required.
