SI Engineering awarded MTA Design-Build Contract for Eighth Avenue Line

SI Engineering was recently awarded an MTA contract for Design-Build professional services for structural improvements on the Eighth Avenue Line. The project will include design, construction, and rehabilitation of structural steel defects along the Eighth Avenue Line on express and local tracks, as well as leak mitigation. Work will involve refurbishing the existing tunnel lighting room that provides power to lighting system components on two (2) tracks and constructing a new tunnel lighting room on the lower level of the 50^th Street Station. Work also involves running, installing, and connecting fiber optic cables at five (5) locations along the 8^th Avenue Line between communications rooms, fan plants, pump rooms, and substations. As a subconsultant, SI Engineering is providing structural inspection services.
