As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided electrical construction inspection services at the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The project involved removing the existing ladders between the anchorage and substation floors, construction of new stair towers, repairing deteriorated concrete on anchorage interior and exterior surfaces, repairing roadway deck concrete, applying waterproofing membrane and asphalt overlay, and reconstructing the existing drainage systems at the anchorage span interface with suspended side and approach spans. The project scope also involved applying protective sealers and waterproofing members on the anchorages’ exterior surfaces, upgrading electrical conduits and junction boxes, lighting for anchorage interiors and exteriors, and installing a new fire alarm and monitoring system for the anchorage chambers.
