As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) was responsible for construction inspection as per contract drawings and specifications. SIE implemented quality control procedures for civil, mechanical, and electrical construction work for the construction of a grit chamber for a new pump station that discharges into the Bronx River. Construction activities included installation of HVAC equipment, ducts, plumbing, sprinkler and fire protection systems, process piping, mechanical equipment, submersible pumps, boilers, grit collection/removal systems, and bar screens. SIE inspected steel reinforcement and pours for concrete walls, slabs, stop logs, installation of masonry walls, and walls, floor tiles, wall painting, and piping systems in the building. SIE also inspected roadway excavation, including temporary shoring installation and dewatering pits, backfilling of excavation with clean fill, and placement of DGA, base course, and top course for pavement restoration.
