SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) performed a system-wide inspection of approximately four (4) miles of the AirTrain Newark guideway between the terminals and parking lots. Inspections of the elevated double steel box girder structure were performed using lift equipment and extension ladders, predominantly at night. SIE engineers assessed the structure for its service life, verified expansion joint and bearing measurements, and prepared reports with recommendations for repairing existing deficiencies and maintaining the guideway structure. Safety, security, accessibility, and traffic coordination were key concerns.
