As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) performed structural inspection, technical report preparation, and rehabilitation engineering design for the inspection of the following PANYNJ-owned bridges within the Port Elizabeth and Port Newark Marine Terminal complex:
- Port Street over the New Jersey Turnpike / Conrail and the Corbin Street Ramp (Ramp C) – 26 spans
- North Avenue Eastbound over the New Jersey Turnpike – 5 spans
- North Avenue Westbound over the New Jersey Turnpike – 5 spans
- North Avenue Eastbound over Conrail’s Chemical Coast Secondary and Conrail’s Elizabethport Yard Tracks – 4 spans
- North Avenue Westbound over Conrail’s Chemical Coast Secondary and Conrail’s Elizabethport Yard Tracks – 4 spans
- Doremius Avenue over Conrail Oak Island Yard – 9 spans
- Sewrage Plant Access Road Overpass over Doremius Avenue and Conrail’s Bayshore Connecting Track – 4 spans
The inspection also included all bridge mounted sign and light structures. Hands-on inspections and assessments were conducted, including sounding of concrete to identify voids and potential problems. SIE evaluated various components’ conditions, and prioritized repair recommendations. Inspection reports were prepared including supporting documents with recommendations and submitted to the Port Authority.
