As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided biennial bridge inspection services at the Marine Parkway and Cross Bay Bridge facilities. This project involved a 100% hands-on inspection of all structural components of the bridge. The scope included the Marine Parkway Lift Bridge and Approaches, consisting of the top of deck and underside inspection of the approach deck trusses with use of a hanging scaffolding and UBIU to allow hand’s-on access to the stiffening / floor trusses, especially the gusset plates and all other fracture critical elements. Top of deck elements included inspection of the wearing surface, parapets, median, sidewalk and light poles. These field notes included significant detailed measurements for section losses which were verified by taking D-Meter readings, which were used for the load rating update of structure. The Cross Bay facility consisted of prestressed concrete multi-girders of which SIE inspected the main bridge along with various components of the approach ramps. These notes concentrated on identifying any deficiencies such as cracks throughout the beams along with their respective pier caps and columns. Previous CMR and flag conditions were verified or updated based upon field findings. Additionally, SIE provided inspection reports including Biennial, Narrative, sketches for the Gusset Plate, Wearing Surface, and Red and Yellow Zone Concrete reports.
