The goal of this project was to create a new roadway connection to 225th Street using an existing parking deck. This required rebuilding or strengthening a portion of the deck area to be used as a roadway if it did not meet current NYCDOT bridge loading criteria. As a subconsultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided structural inspection services for the parking deck. The project area was approximately 475’ long and 55’ wide.
The scope of work included a visual inspection of the top and underside of the deck, including the structural system, to verify any conditions requiring repairs to bring this structure up to a state of good repair. Based on findings, repair details were provided for concrete deck elements, joints, and steel super and substructures. SIE was also responsible for preparing an inspection report including condition findings, photographs, and sketches.
