As the prime consultant, SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE) provided resident engineering inspection services for this NYCDDC infrastructure project. The project involved widening South Avenue from Wemple Street to Netherland Avenue. Work included construction of street curbs, sidewalks and roadway street lighting, in addition to the installation of traffic signals, pavement marking, traffic and street name signs, and tree planting. The project also included the installation of an 18” storm sewer. This new storm sewer was connected to the existing chamber on Forest Avenue. A 12” storm sewer was also connected to a new type A-3 manhole. A 12” existing water main was removed and replaced with a new 12” water main on South Avenue and Forest Avenue. Most of the work was conducted at or near the intersection of South Avenue and Forest Avenue. Existing utilities were relocated according to the new plan. The project included extensive communication with the immediate affected community, utilities, and stakeholders through notifications of water shut-offs, job progress, and the resolution of issues as they arose.
